This Microsoft WebCast is an excellent visual and audio presentation about database normalisation and what constitutes a relational database. The WebCast emphasises the differences between a flat file databse and a relational database.

Written by Rose Vines (1998) this site provides an excellent tutorial guide to basic database design. Tutorial data can be downloaded in Access 2000, FileMaker and Approach formats. Topics covered include Table Creation, Forms, Data Validation, Lookup Tables, Quries and Simple Relational Design. A nice touch is that the user can select the background colour for the site.
This site gives a wealth of useful information on the effect of relevant legislation on the HE and FE communities. Topics include, amongst others, Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
