Computer programming is the process of creating computer programs using code. On this course you will learn about the basic principles of computer programming, how to design, plan, and write a computer program, and how to test and evaluate its functions. Students will build on the knowledge of the Level 1 course.

The course is a mix of discussion, research tasks, practical tasks, and report writing.
As well as providing a recognised qualification in the subject, this course could also lead on to the college’s skills-focussed programming courses, as well as opening up the possibility of further study in programming or computer science.
No specialist equipment is required.

Students will need to have completed the Computer Programming (Level 1) course in order to join this course. They will also need to have completed the Next Steps with Computers course, or already have digital skills equivalent to those listed in that course’s description. Students will need to be working at Level 1 or above in Literacy.
This course is fully funded for eligible students
If you are not eligible, the cost of the course is ££144.00. There is no option to pay to stay residentially if you do not meet the criteria for residential funding. The vast majority of students are eligible to study and stay residentially for free and we will confirm as part of the application process.
