Your Personal Academic Tutor will be from Northern College. Taught day schools are at the University of Huddersfield with students from other colleges.
This course is particularly suitable for those wishing to progress from a Certificate of Education (CertEd), DTLLS or other Level 5 teaching qualification to a degree. It takes two years (part-time) to attain a degree with honours.
The degree is primarily aimed at those working either within the education and training sector or related areas including health, community, private and voluntary sectors and the uniformed services, who are looking to further their professional knowledge and skills. It will help you broaden your knowledge and understanding of theoretical and policy issues and research methods in education and training, with direct application to your own professional context. It provides an opportunity to develop your professional and personal confidence within your working practice.
This course is delivered as part of a consortium of providers at the University of Huddersfield. You will attend classes at the University and have tutorials with your tutor at Northern College or online using Microsoft Teams.

What can this course lead to?
This course gives you the opportunity to build the knowledge to extend the cognitive and practical skills required within teaching and learning. You?ll draw on your existing teaching and learning experiences to plan and explore new ways of developing and understanding contemporary good practice. You?ll also have the opportunity to focus on research-based practice and undertake research focusing on contemporary educational challenges and strategies.
Learning materials, including information, case-studies and self-assessment materials are provided at regular intervals throughout the year. Students will also participate in virtual seminars and discussion groups. Assessments vary and include essays, presentations, poster presentations, reports and a major empirical study.
