The Functional Skills qualifications are based around skills needed for everyday life and to enable you to have the flexibility to problem solve using these skills. On this course, you will learn to use numbers and the number system, measure, shape and space, handle data, and solve mathematical problems and make decisions using maths at Level 2.Maths qualifications at this level are required by many employers, further and higher education organisations. What can this course lead to?
Functional Skills qualifications at Level 2 may be required to access Level 3 programmes of study, and are now often accepted at universities to access Higher Education qualifications. This is also a qualification which will make you more competetive in the jobs market.

Course fees and funding support
Functional skills and GCSE qualifications in English and Maths are free to anyone who doesn’t already have either a grade 4, or a Level 2, in the specific subject. This means, if you’re aged 19 or over, the government will fund your English and Maths studies until you achieve either of these grades whether you are in work or not.
