What are the entry requirements?

No formal qualifications are required to study this course. A willingness to learn is essential.

How much does this cost?

FREE*

* This course is fully funded for eligible students.

If you are not eligible, the cost of the course is £150.00. If you choose to stay residentially, and you are not eligible via the residential funding assessment, there will be an additional fee to pay. The vast majority of students are eligible to study and stay residentially for free and we will confirm when you apply.

Course description

Are you looking for a job but not sure that you have the full range of general skills employers are looking for? This five-day course will help to ‘get you ready’ for the world of work, using both indoor and outdoor learning to develop a range of skills. This includes skills which employers really value, such as problem solving, working in a team, effective communication, time management, resilience and independence. You will also develop a clear idea of what being a good employee really means. Find your full workplace potential at Northern College, and develop the positive attitude which your next employer is looking for.

On completion of this course you will achieve NCFE Level 1 Award in Employability.

What can this course lead to?

You might like to develop your English, maths or digital skills by taking some short courses, and then progress to take a Functional Skills qualification.
