Ready to Work (LDD Project Block 1) Cohort 1

Ready to Work is designed to help you build the skills, confidence, and independence needed to move towards employment. If you feel you have challenges in accessing employment opportunities, this course will provide tailored support to help you prepare for the workplace in a positive and supportive environment.

You will develop essential workplace skills, including timekeeping, communication, professional behaviour, and preparing for work. You will also take part in activities designed to build your confidence, help you manage new situations, and develop skills that employers value.

During the course, you will create a CV, practise interview techniques and gather evidence of the skills and achievements you have developed.

You will attend for three days each week. Two days will be spent in the classroom, where you will develop your employability, personal, and workplace skills. On the third day, you will take part in practical, simulated work activities on the college site, gaining hands-on experience in areas such as Food and Drink or retail.

You may also have the opportunity to visit local workplaces to explore different working environments and build your understanding of the world of work. Where appropriate, you can also develop independent living skills to support your personal development and future goals.

Useful information: Applications are invited from young adults (19+) without an Education, Health and Care Plan, who are able to travel to Northern College and places of employment. You will be invited to a welcome event where you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have and let us know of any support needs.
