Meet the Northern College Outreach Team

January 28, 2026

Bringing Learning and Confidence into Your Community

Our Outreach team is at the heart of Northern College’s mission to make learning accessible, welcoming and life‑changing. They work directly with community groups, charities and support services to help adults build confidence, improve wellbeing and take their first steps back into education.

Whether you’re supporting people who are nervous about returning to learning, looking for wellbeing activities, or wanting to explore new opportunities, our team is here to help.

Your Outreach Contacts

Steven Tasker‑Smith:

Steven supports Outreach activity across both South and West Yorkshire, working with a wide range of community organisations. He regularly attends local fairs, events and community days, helping people discover what Northern College can offer.

What I love most about outreach and student engagement at Northern College is being able to help people rediscover their confidence in learning. Supporting adults to take that first step back into education and watching it change their lives is incredibly rewarding.”

Kirsty Wilkinson:

Kirsty oversees Outreach activity across South Yorkshire working closely with organisations, building strong relationships with community partners to shape meaningful learning experiences.

“I enjoy working in student engagement at an adult college because I get to support motivated learners as they balance education with real-world responsibilities and long-term goals”

Sarah Evans:

Sarah oversees Outreach activity across West Yorkshire, working closely with local organisations to support adults in building confidence, wellbeing and a positive first step back into learning.

“I love working in outreach and student engagement at Northern College because every day I get to be part of someone’s educational journey. Seeing learners realise their potential reminds me that it’s never too late to grow, change, or try something new.”

How They Can Support You

The team can work with you to create flexible, tailored opportunities such as:

  • Courses delivered in your community
  • Group visits to the College
  • Wellbeing and confidence‑building sessions
  • Taster courses in digital skills, ESOL, employability and more
  • The popular Five Ways to Wellbeing introduction course

They’re friendly, experienced and passionate about helping adults take that first step.
