We are looking for employers who can help our students to take a meaningful step into the next phase of their careers. This will provide you access to a talented pool of candidates who can benefit your organisation and enhance productivity.
We want to re-shape our training offer to meet your priorities and skills gaps in response to Covid-19, to support our employer partners to recover, develop and grow.
Northern College is the only adult residential college in the North. We support learners aged 19 and over to re-enter education to gain the skills employers need, alongside adults who want to progress or make a career change. Our curriculum is informed by the needs of employers across the region. Our students rapidly progress in our unique residential learning environment and achievement rates are outstanding.
We have one of the most beautiful and impressive settings in the north of England. Our main house is a Grade 1 listed building of outstanding historical importance, surrounded by over 500 acres of gardens and parkland. This unique learning environment provides an immersive study experience and our outdoor learning space, helping foster team relationships and collaboration.
The college offers a range of flexible learning options, including residential study, online study led by a tutor and blended learning which combines the two. This is delivered during the day, evening, during the week and on weekends. Many employers will opt for a mixture of these, alongside some independent study alone.
We are in a prime location for businesses and organisations across the North of England, and only a short drive from the M1, junctions 36 (from the South) and 37 (from the North). We also offer free parking on site.
There are many ways you can get involved to ensure your priorities and skills gaps inform our work and can support our students and their careers. Examples include:
We’ve commissioned Northern College to develop and deliver a number of bespoke training sessions for us aimed at staff, volunteers and local community groups working with us to develop the gardens. Each time they’ve really understood what we’re wanting to achieve and come up with sessions that are interesting, engaging and challenge participants’ thinking.
Syliva Ward, Manager, National Trust, Wentworth Castle Gardens.
Northern College is an absolutely outstanding organisation and we are thankful for their support and partnership. In the coming months, Northern College will be a vital partnership to have due to their provision and location, as they provide many things the members of our communities will need in order to grow in the wake of Covid-19’s impact.
Daniel Wake, Lead Mentor, Athersley Community Shop.
