Children’s Centre

At Northern College, we recognise the impact that childcare responsibilities may have on committing to a course of study.

Our Children’s Centre provides a free childcare service for the children of students enrolled on full or part-time courses. The Centre, which is registered with Ofsted, provides forty four places for children aged from six months up to eleven years, eleven months.
The Centre has a separate room for children aged from six months up to twenty four months, a nursery for children from twenty four months up to five years and an area for children aged from five up to eleven years eleven months. Our registration with Ofsted requires that the age groups are cared for in their own areas. On the Access to HE Diploma course the college accepts children still at primary school by the end of the course.
The school-age children of full-time students on the Access to HE Diploma course and who are residential, can attend local schools. The Centre provides out of school care for the children of full-time students who are residential, who are required to attend late afternoon or evening classes. Places for half term are limited and students are required to book the places in advance.
