Course description

This course is designed for individuals interested in developing knowledge and understanding as part of your work role in a range of different sectors; or those who have been out of education or work for a while and are looking to gain new knowledge and skills.

The course will dispel some of the myths and stereotypes linked to substance misuse. It will challenge perceptions of substance misuse and media portrayal. The course will explore the impact of substance use and risks factors associated.

The course is delivered over three days and you must be able to attend every session in order to successfully complete this qualification.

The courses will cover the following units:

  • Know what substances are commonly used and why
  • Understand the personal and social effects of substance misuse.
  • Understand perceptions of and responses to substance misuse.
  • Understand ways to promote healthy choices and build resilience.
