Our new counselling pathway is designed for adults who may want to become a counsellor by providing a route to the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. This pathway would also benefit individuals interested in developing counselling and helping skills as part of their existing job role, such as a mental health support worker, social worker or teaching assistant.
You can enter this pathway from introductory level to progress, or at level 3. You can also apply to study residentially to focus on your studies with like-minded peers and share good practice.
There is currently an acute shortage of skills for growth in the Health and Social Care sector in our region. We will work with you to achieve and progress your career goals and realise your full potential, focused on a career helping others.
The average salary for a counsellor ranges from £25,654 as a starter, to £45,838 (source: nationalcareers.service.gov.uk).
The counselling course content was marvellous. It touched every area and I believe was integral in me becoming a success at counselling.
After completing the short course in Counselling Therapy, I was inspired and motivated to pursue the level 1 and level 2 as well. Was a life changing experience.
Studying the counselling course at the Northern College has been one of the most profoundly transformative and insightful experiences of my life. It has forever changed me as a person and I view the world through new eyes now.
I am now reaping the rewards from the counselling course and look forward to continuing my studies. Thank you so very, very much for your enduring support, fantastic teaching and boundless patience!
