Building on your basic digital skills, on this course you will learn how to use the basics of several apps (word processors, spreadsheets, presentation software, email, and web browser) for a certain purpose, such as using a word processor to create a document. As you learn each piece of software, you will also practice your basic skills and build your confidence in using computers in general.

The course is based around practical tasks, using the software‘ specific functions to create a piece of work.
This course could lead onto the College’s Next Steps with Computers course, which in turn leads to a variety of exciting digital skills courses.
Improving essential skills (English, ESOL, maths, digital)
No formal requirements; students will need the basic digital skills listed in the First Steps with Computers course.
This course is fully funded for eligible students
If you are not eligible, the cost of the course is £144. There is no option to pay to stay residentially if you do not meet the criteria for residential funding. The vast majority of students are eligible to study and stay residentially for free and we will confirm as part of the application process.
