Course description

In this ‘Introduction to Journalism’ we will be exploring what ‘news’ is, what the features of a news report are and how we can create our own news article.

Course content

On this course we will work independently and in groups to focus upon:

What is ‘the news’? How do we receive it and what are the different styles?
What does a journalist do? How do people secure jobs in journalism and what does the job entail?
The features of news articles
Creating a news story

What are the entry requirements?

No formal qualifications are required.

Most jobs require you to have Level 2 in English and Maths. These qualifications are important in jobs that are most employable in the South and West Yorkshire Regions such as Education and Health and Social Care sector.
