Greg led the Place and Civic Engagement work at Sheffield Hallam University. He also led the Civic University Network that is led by Sheffield Hallam University in partnership with University of Newcastle, University of Birmingham, Queen Mary University, National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement and The Institute for Community Studies.  

Before working at Sheffield Hallam University, he worked as a senior Civil Servant in the Department for Education. He has worked in a wide range of roles in central government. These have included both policy and delivery. He has operated at both the national and regional level, working on a wide range of education and wider social policy.  Whilst working in North West he led the implementation of policies across the region to support social inclusion.  He has wide experience of delivery in a complex political environment.
