Northern College has a long and proud tradition of working with trade unions.
The TUC Trade Union Education Centre at Northern College offers a range of free, high quality trade union training courses for elected or appointed Union Representatives. These courses are all accredited, meaning you will gain a qualification at the end of your course.
We will also work closely with individual unions to deliver specialist, bespoke courses for TUC affiliates.
Trade Union Education at Northern College is meaningful, purposeful, accessible and rewarding. There are no exams, or long lectures, the education programme involves practical activities where you will work with your peers. This is an opportunity to step back from your job and your activist work to think and learn. Skills development and confidence building are essential elements of all Trade Union courses.
This is the most supported I have ever felt in my education and, because of that, my work load has always felt manageable.
Staying residential also gives you the opportunity to meet with new people, and strangers soon become friends. The team are really accommodating and it is disability friendly.
